AVANGAR win Bucharest Gaming Week Invitational over Vega Squadron

At the $57,000 tournament in Bucharest, Romania, AVANGAR took the first place prize after defeating Windigo 2-1 in the semi final and Vega Squadron 2-0 in the grand final.
The event, which featured a single-elimination BO3 bracket, took place at the Romexpo arena, with three teams—AVANGAR, Vega Squadron and Sprout—invited directly, and the fourth one qualifying through the ESL SEC S8 LAN Finals which were held at the same venue the previous day. At that tournament, Windigo was victorious, beating their Bulgarian rivals Bpro in the grand final, with Nexus and Locastic finishing 3-4th.

The Bucharest Gaming Week Invitational by ESL kicked off with semi-final between Vega Squadron and Sprout, where the CIS team took a 2-0 win (16-8 Train, 19-15 Dust2). On the other hand, AVANGAR had a tougher time against Windigo, losing Cache after overtime (19-17), before bouncing back in the series with 16-10s on Inferno and Train.
Vega Squadron and AVANGAR therefore met in the grand final and the series started on the Kazakh team's map pick, Cache. They instantly put their foot down on the T side, grabbing a 5-1 lead before Dmitriy "jR" Chervak and co. managed to sneak a defuse in for their second. However, the pendulum swung back AVANGAR's way and they hit a five-round streak to finish the half with a respectable 10-5 scoreline. That lead way only advanced after they secured the CT pistol and reset Vega Squadron early, allowing a comfortable 16-9 victory. Key to the win was Bektiyar "fitch" Bahytov, who topped the board with 31 frags.
Switching to Train, their map pick, didn't help Vega Squadron that much. They lost the opening six round on the CT side before picking up one, only for AVANGAR to go on an even longer streak after that and finish the T side with a dominant, 13-2 score. After the switch, Vega Squadron brought home the pistol and the follow up to give them a chance to come back, but Alexey "Qikert" Golubev's team closed it out quickly, 16-4, to finish the match and lift the Bucharest Gaming Week Invitational trophy.
